| I have had several multifunction watches. The Casio Pathfinder is by far the most durable and solidly built watch I have ever owned. It functions as advertised and I would not want to be anywhere without it. The only complaint I could offer is that when the watch is in temperature mode, it's accuracy is impaired by body heat. So, for an accurate temp., simply take it off your wrist for a few minutes. I was worried about the atomic time keeping, but the watch detects the signal without any diffculty. |
so glad with this jewel...best pathfinder ever!

| I'm Geologist and I need to go to the field almost two or three times per week. this watch works well if you know how to calibrate its reception. I highly recomend this watch...is beatiful. if you like outdoor watches go for this, is so well designed, comfortable and the color combination is amazing, and the most important fact, is very accurate. it worths its price! |

| my staff, patients and friends says its too big, others says you can't miss it. For me its very multi functional, compass are accurate enough, temp as well, just need to be not in contact w/ your body for 15 mins but hey you can check the internet via smart phone for comparison always, but i love the most useful is the atomic and solar, tide and moon phase pretty accurate when compared w/ the weather channel, but face it you will not use this for survival 100%, i bought it bec i grew up w/ casio in my country is a fad w/ its famous colorful bands, g shock quality (just dn't wear it on your wrist while playing tennis), multi of the multi's, and of course the style. this watch has everything i can imagine [and more]. |
Very pleased

This is not an intuitive tool to use - read the manual carefully.
Even with the special watch strap shortening tool I bought at the same time, that process was not as easy as one miught think but ultimately worked well (do not lose the internal tube wshers that the nmanual does not mention!!)
Watch has retained a charge well and once I became familiar with the atomic synchronization system, things have gone well - I have not yet travelled internationally but it seems to work fine within the USA
VERY BIG but comfortable |
Excellent watch, alarm too quiet, sync and solar work very well.

| I got this about a week ago and am still testing it. It looks good and performs well. The atomic feature is excellent, syncing day, time and date in Jamaica. I don't event have to put the watch near a window. It syncs every morning on my bedside table ten feet away from the window. This is despite being several hundred miles beyond the range that Casio say it will work! Other functions work well, though I would have liked the compass to display more clearly and for more than 20 seconds at a time. |
Better getting the same model without the atomic time update feature

If the Protrek PRG 130 is available in your area, it is better off getting it than the PAW 1500. the multi-Band 5 Atomic Timekeeping feature is not very useful at all as it will require you to put your watch near a window at night to get a clear signal to update.
With so many of us owning car GPS units, you can easily get the the update by synchronising your watch with the time there instead. GPS time is also synchronised with ground based atomic time keeping facilities.
Both models are identical otherwise in features. The price difference will be what you pay for the atomic time keeping feature. It might not be worth the difference in price. |
Could be better

| The watch fits comfortably on my wrist and is water proof. The barometer and compass both work. I expected the light to stay on more than three seconds once pressed. I actually use another light to see the screen. The watch costs way too much to have a flaw like this. The watch band material is a lot better than the regular plastic bands that I have used in the past. As soon as I recieved the watch, I submerged it in water for about 15 minutes. Once the watch band dried, it had a bad smell; as if I had exercised while wearing it. It was like a sweaty smell. It is still fairly new, so I am hoping that this problem will take care of itself. In a all, the watch is over priced and I wished that I would have spent a little more time researching. It has some nice features, but good luck trying to use them in the dark. |
