Anchored by the characters and events of the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" animated series, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes reveals a new and exciting chapter of the Star Wars saga. Close quarters Jedi combat. View larger. | Clone based firepower. View larger. | Jedi droidhacking. View larger. | Story Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes lets Star Wars fans young and old live out the sweeping galactic adventures of the Clone Wars. For the first time ever, players can fight as their favorite Jedi and clone troopers from the preeminent animated television series – from familiar faces like Anakin Skywalker to new heroes like Clone Captain Rex. A brand-new storyline, which bridges the gap between season one and two, takes the player on a multifaceted adventure to stop a mysterious techno assassin’s destructive plot. Built around two-player cooperative action, the accessible controls and family-friendly gameplay bring Star Wars fans across generations together like never before to fight the evil Separatists and restore peace to the galaxy. Gameplay Gameplay in Star Wars the Clone Wars: Republic Heroes is mission-based. Players can choose to approach the action as either a Jedi or a clone class character. Playing as a Jedi you have access to eight playable characters, and as a clone you play as one of a group of clones. The game was developed with co-op play in mind, which means players can more or less count on never fighting alone, which is a good thing considering the hordes of battle droids and other enemies you will face. The game also features a puzzle-solving gameplay component, as well as an upgrade system based on the collection of "Force Orbs" scattered throughout the game environment. Weapons and Combat Keeping with the games' user friendly approach, the control scheme has been designed with Jedi character's lightsaber and force powers, as well as clone characters firing trigger accessible from a single input source. Because of the difference in the character classes weapons, combat differs depending on the class chosen. Due to their reliance on the their lightsabers, Jedi will mostly engage enemies at close range, although force power attacks can allow for more distance from targets. In addition, utilizing Jedi powers at point blank range players are able to engage in "droidjacking," which allows a Jedi to take control of a droid's weapons system and other abilities. On the other hand, clone character combat relies more on firepower, utilizing a variety of blaster type weapons and thermal grenades, although clones are able to acquire heavier weapons, such as miniguns and rocket launchers as the game progresses. Because of the projectile nature of these weapons clone character combat can be fought as a variety of distances. Key Game Features - Experience an all-new and exciting Clone Wars storyline that bridges the gap between season one and two of the TV series as you learn more about the mysterious bounty hunter Cad Bane and hunt down the all-new Skakoan super villain Kul Teska.
- Play as your favorite Jedi heroes including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto.
- Slice and dice your way through Separatist droids with your lightsaber and Force powers and use your agility to perform amazing leaps and navigate levels filled with interactivity.
- Turn your enemies into weapons as you commandeer droids and use their unique abilities to blast enemies and solve puzzles as a Jedi.

My son loves this game!

When I read the first review here I decided not to purchase the game even though my son (13 years old) had downloaded the demo and loved it. However, I did decide to rent it and my son loves it. When I asked him what he likes his reply was "everything." When pressed to give specific examples he replied that he likes that you can play as so many different characters, and that missions take place between Season 1 and 2 of the show so things are new. I know he likes the fact that in the game he can use his points to purchase "hats and masks" and change his character's look. This can get quite humorous when the original slender bodies are topped by some outrageous looking hats, helmets and masks. It does make it easy to spot your character though!
He's been playing this for the last three days so I know he likes it. How does this game compare to other Star War games he has played? He played "The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels" for about 20 minutes before he announced to me that I could return it to the rental store. Thank goodness I didn't buy that. He really likes the "Lego Star Wars" games and he played them a lot when we first bought them a couple years ago--but at 13 he has kinda outgrown those versions and finds "Clone Wars: Republic Heroes" better. This game is more advanced that Lego Star Wars.
I also read a review that was criticial of the small size of the characters, but for us this hasn't been an issue. He's been playing this on a 40-inch LCD screen, so perhaps at half the size this could become an issue.
Bottom line: This is a fun game with an interesting story line and good graphics. |
Perfect for a dad and 7-year-old boy

| My son and I love being on the same side in this game. This is just the right level of difficulty for a family game. I also should mention that the Prima strategy guide has alleviated frustration once or twice. |
A mom's review based on my 6 year old

I just wanted to add this review for any mom's of young Star Wars/Clone Wars fans. My 6 year old son LOVES anything to do with Star Wars. We got a WII for Christmas and started with the Lego Star Wars game. He loved that and I would highly recommend that. Unfortunately, he kept seeing commercials for other games that looked more like his favorite show, Clone Wars, and he wanted us to buy this one. We finally got it for him but I was very nervous because of the Teen rating. My 6 year old is our oldest and I am not wanting to get into all kinds of violence, gore, or inappropriate attitudes. Before buying it I was never able to find a review that spoke to content and that is why I am posting this.
This game does not show ANY blood or gore. When the droids are destroyed they just fall apart or short out and the guys/people grunt and fall over. We were o.k. with that. I am a big fan of this game because the it is very close to the Clone Wars series on TV and he really enjoys how he gets to use the remote. He can use it like a lightsaber (if he is a jedi) or gun (if he is playing as a clone trooper). He especially likes being able to swish his lightsaber with the flick of his hand rather than pushing a button like on Lego Star Wars. He also loves being able to switch between his favorite "good guys". So far there has not been anything that I felt was inappropriate for him. Either language, attitude, or excessive violence. It has more difficulty in problem solving but you can select a "padawan" or "master" mode to play in (padawan=easy or master=more difficult). A bonus for mom's in the game is there's virtually no consequences to dying so that lowers the frustration level for a young player. Also, Yoda will talk periodically through the levels giving direction on what the player should do. That was great for my son who is just learning to read. All in all, if you are o.k. with the Clone Wars shows on TV, this game is very much in line with it and your little guy (or girl) should enjoy it.
I WILL update this review if I find the content of the game changes as he moves through the levels. But for the first few levels, I have been very happy. |

| This is a great game from Lucas Arts! I quite don't understand the very negative ratings from other customers. I've played it with my son (11 years old) and we like the story. the graphics. the 3D environment, the missions and the Star Wars feeling. If you have an Xbox controller attached on your PC it makes also more fun. Overall we gave this game 5 stars and we hope there will be more such exciting games for the PC platform in the future! |

In the last couple of years videogame fans have been focusing in a lot of aspects to rate videogames, and in my opinion I think most are forgetting the fun factor, which is why I think this game is pretty good. This game takes you back to the core of what a videogame should be, fun and not frustrating. Please take in consideration that I am a huge Star Wars fan. This game is just like the episodes of the show, a side story to the main star wars saga, it presents you with a lot of bad guys a lot of cut scenes to present the story and my favorite, a whole lot of action, slashing and dashing, that is why this game could appeal a wide range of ages, in other words, it is pretty straight forward. More simple than THE FORCE UNLEASHED, plus you get to use clones apart form your main Jedi characters.
In conclusion, if you are a Star Wars fan, like a good simple game every now and then, pick this up and enjoy.

As an intermediate gamer, I have to say that this game is really good. For those of you that play Halo 3 ODST and Modern Warfare 2 all day, this may seem slightly boring. But for a relaxing -yet challenging- game, this is a great buy!
There are two difficulties on this game- Padawan and Master. I'm only on Padawan now, and it's not just a walk on the beach. It is easier than other games, however, because of the respawning system. Whenever you die, you simply respawn at the last checkpoint (there are no shortages of these). You do lose a significant amount of points, though, so you still have to be careful.
The storyline includes one of the best features of the game. Altough you can play the whole game on single-player, you will always have a partner Jedi to assist you. By default, it will be AI controlled. But at any desired time, another player can join and play as the second Jedi! The other great part about the storyline is that you can play as a variety of different Star Wars heroes (therefore the title, "Republic Heroes"). The storyline is divided up into missions, each with its own heroes. For example, you start off as Anikan with Ashoka, next you have Obi-wan with Klo, and later perhaps Windu with another Jedi. Some missions also use clone troopers, which are quite fun to battle with. And after each completed mission, autosave will save your progress.
If there are any downsides to this game, it would probably be the camera angles. They can be slightly frustrating at times, especially if you are trying to beat a mission with a partner. It is a third-person view, with no split-screen for two player mode. This is only a minor issue though, and does not take anything away from the overall quality of the game.
In summary, this is a great game if you are a Star Wars fan and/or if you enjoy destroying hordes of droids with a lightsaber. The graphics are great for the PS2, and the gameplay is fun and addictive. |

| Fun game. Kind of reminded me of old Super Star Wars games on the SNES. If you like the cartoon, you will like the game. It's like playing in the show. I actually really liked the camera angles, it gave a different perspective. |

| This is an awesome game. It's a lot more fun and challenging than the first Clone Wars DS game (which I beat in just a few hours of play). This one is a lot better. General Grievous is really tough to defeat! Just as he should be. |
